Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The contract required carrying out remedial works to 6 No. bridges on regional and Local roads. The works included removing existing steel beams, cleaning and painting of exposed flanges of steel beams, removal of existing false arches, scour protection to abutments and piers, clearance of vegetation, installation of earth bunds, timber posts and rail fences as well as rubbing strips.

Additional works included installation of bed lining and Rock Armour, application of spray applied concrete, installation of tie bars and rubbing strips, repointing, resurfacing works and masonry repairs.

Traffic Management plans were in place for the duration of the contract.

Clonakility Culverts. County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The project required the replacement of culverts over water and on busy trafficked roads. The works consisted of the demolition of the existing structures, the installation of new box culverts in precast concrete and the construction of insitu concrete to include rubbing strips.

The contract was carried out in environmentally sensitive locations. Temporary diversion of watercourses was required. A water management plan was prepared. Prior to any diversion routes being implemented, it was firstly required to remove/relocate all fish using electro-fishing techniques. These works were carried out in liaison and under the supervision of The Fisheries Board.

The project also involved dealing with river and tidal flows, installation of bed lining and Rock Armour, realignment of utilities, road reinstatement and ancillary works. New masonry parapet walls were constructed. Concrete kerbing works, footways and a new road formation were built.

Conservation Of The Triumphal Arch. Doneraile Court Estate, County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The conservation works on this national monument was subject to regular inspection by The Office of Public Works Consultant Archaeologist

The project comprised of the renovation of the existing triumphal arch entrance and associated site work. This included the dismantling of the entire masonry entrance gateway and parts of the adjacent wing walls to facilitate the construction of a new concrete foundation founded on rock to support the rebuilt entrance gateway structure.

The entrance gateway and wing wall was rebuilt to its original form. The existing wing walls and capping stones were repointed. The existing limestone kerb outside the entrance gates was replaced. Surface treatment of the area around the entrance gates was carried out. Hard landscaping (bollards) were installed to protect the completed works.

This work was sensitive to the general public as the area inside the entrance gates is a public park with pedestrians and traffic on the roads and pathways throughout the site.

Knapps Square Apartments. Cork City

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The project involved the construction of Ninety-Three Apartment and duplex complexes with a central courtyard at Knapps Square, Cork City. The buildings were constructed of a mixture of reinforced concrete and blockwork walls, along with steel element structures.  All floors were pre – cast slabs.  The elevations were constructed of limestone, brick and monocuse plaster.

Because of site restrictions, the works were carried out in phases so as not to impact adversely on this busy city centre location.

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

This contract involved the fit-out of an existing building for Teamwork.com.  The work extended across the first, second and third floors of the building. The project was designed in line with a modern office facility and included breakout rooms, open plan areas, private office rooms, meeting rooms, a canteen, and the provision of a slide from the third floor to the first.

The work included the complete installation of mechanical and electrical services. Roads and access ways were kept open at all times. The ground floor of the building was occupied during the construction so great care was taken to ensure the safety and welfare of these people.

A temporary Traffic Management Plan was put in place to ensure minimal disruption while the works were ongoing. Emergency exits and normal building access was maintained for the duration of the project.

Bord Gáis Offices. County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The project were completed under the Public Works Form of Contract for Minor Building and Civil Engineering Works as Designed by Bord Gáis Energy.

The project involved the architectural, mechanical and electrical fit-out of the Bord Gáis Energy offices in Cork City. The contract consisted of the provision of workstations to have a capacity of seventy-four desks, four hot work areas, six cellular offices, five meeting rooms, print areas, reception and waiting areas, coffee lounge, communications room, support rooms, gym and associated shower facilities.

This work required the coordination of specialised Mechanical and Electrical contractors, maintaining site access, ensuring deliveries of plant and equipment to the site as well as the storage of materials safely in a restricted space.

The work was carried out in a live office environment and required sensitivity to the working arrangements of the client. The project was completed in phases. Cumnor Construction Ltd. personnel also assisted the Bord Gais Energy employees in their relocation to the new space. There were strict deadlines for this work and Cumnor Construction Ltd. met these deadlines.
