Red Hat Offices. County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The project involved the fit-out and refurbishment of an existing office building. The first floor of this building was occupied for the duration of the work. The contract consisted of demolition, the installation of new partitions and joinery,  new floor finishes, internal decoration and office equipment. Alterations to the existing mechanical and electrical installations were required. A new ventilation system was added to the roof.

The work was carried out in a live office environment that necessitated being sensitive to the working arrangements of the client. The contract was completed in phases. As the building was occupied, communal areas had to be kept clean at all times, escape routes kept clear and noise level restrictions adhered to. Out of hours’ work was carried out when required so as not to disrupt the daily operation of this live office.

Tower Shopping Centre. County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The work involved the construction of a shopping/retail foodstore, storage units, bank, off-licence, three shop units, road and site development works. The construction of a two storey building consisted of reinforced concrete foundations, together with a small basement in one section, concrete ground floor slab, external wall of brickwork and plastered blockwork, precast concrete first floor and stairs, pitched timber roof trusses with fibre cement slate finish and PVC coated Kingspan roof panels on structural steel beams. Also included was a full mechanical, electrical and window installation and a comprehensive range of wall, floor and ceiling finishes.

Site development works included bulk excavation, new access roads and parking areas, pathways and paving, new drainage and site services including gas, water and electrical services, boundary walls and landscaping. Connections to the public mains and utility services took place outside of the site boundary.

13 Bridges in County Mayo

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The work involved the replacement, repair and refurbishment of 13 Eirspan bridges on national roads in County Mayo.

The project included bridge deck replacements, installation of precast concrete culverts, protection of bridge parapets, installation of rubbing strips, road gullies, service ducts and safety barriers, diversion of services, waterproofing and road resurfacing work.

Temporary Traffic Management Plans were designed in-house and submitted to Mayo County Council and the National Roads Authority (NRA) for approval prior to the work commencing.

The work were supervised by Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The contract involved the construction of retaining walls, the replacement of missing capping stones, grouting, repointing and repairs to the existing masonry, scour protection to the river bed as well as the construction and realignment of footpaths and carriageway.  Fencing, pedestrian guard rails and road safety barrier systems were also installed.

Other works carried out as part of this contract included the relocation and protection of existing services, devegetation of road retaining walls and the adjacent river banks, demolition works and the removal of debris in the river from under and around the structure.

The bridges were located on national primary routes on the N77 & N78. Consequently, the works involved traffic management, crossovers, safety zones, temporary safety barriers, safety signage, lane restrictions, temporary lighting and diversions. Temporary Traffic Management Plans were designed in-house and submitted to the Kilkenny County Council and the National Roads Authority (NRA) for approval prior to the work commencing.

A water management plan was prepared to enable works to proceed without negative impact on the watercourse. All Department of the Marine & Natural Resources guidelines for working over and within water in such conditions were complied with. The sites were in areas designated as Special Areas of Conservation. Consequently, the works were under constant supervision by the Inland Fisheries Board.

Lee Valley Golf & Country Club Residential Homes Development

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The works involved the construction of twenty luxury houses, a sports retail shop and a clock tower gated entrance. The houses were a mixture of semi-detached, duplexes and detached units. The site was located within the grounds of the Lee Valley Golf Club and clubhouse which remained opened for the duration of the works.

Accommodation comprised 3-4 bedrooms, an ensuite, a living/dining area, main bathroom and balcony. The front porches were clad in Liscannor Stone.

Repair to Pier & Slipway at Garnish Island, County Cork

Contract Details

Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.

The project involved remedial work to the pier and slipway. The pier remained open for the duration of the project with the work carried out in stages in liaison with the ferry operators. The contract was completed in an environmentally sensitive area. All plant and tools to carry out the work were transported to the site by ferry barge each day.

The work included high-pressure power cleaning of all marine-based vegetation. The existing damaged stone masonry cladding was removed and replaced with new masonry stone. Existing stone was used where possible. Soil nails were installed along the slipway and grouted into position. Reinforced steel was installed around these soil nails and concrete was poured to form a new reinforced concrete beam to the edge of the slipway.

The existing masonry stonework was replaced and stainless steel mooring rings were installed into the newly formed surface. Grouting was carried out and fenders were erected to the side of the slipway using stainless steel fixings.
