Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.
This contract was carried out under the GCCC Public Works form of contract designed by Cork City Council.
The goal of the contract was to improve existing features in the park and provide additional iconic attractions to enhance the profile of the Mardyke as a city destination. The entire park is approximately 18 acres in size.
The project involved the construction of a number of park pavilions/shelters and the completion of a range of hard and soft landscape construction including public footpaths. A new ‘Iconic Garden’ was constructed adjacent to the museum/café in which an existing ‘pod’ structure was fixed and fitted with roof, viewing platform and ramped access.
A new performance pavilion on a raised plinth was constructed on the front lawn of the park and a contemporary plaza including integrated seating and lighting constructed at the museum entrance.
