Cumnor Construction Ltd. carried out the role of Works Contractor and PSCS for this project.
The project involved the conversion and restoration of a Victorian building. Cumnor Construction Ltd. received an award in the OPUS Architecture & Construction Awards for this job.
The works were carried out to a protected structure. The existing building was stripped out internally and entirely restored. This work involved traditional lime plastering, replication of existing joinery, new tiling, repair and replacement of existing floorboards with new pitched pine floorboards. Additional work included the repair and replication of existing cornices, counters and fittings.
The building was also re-roofed. Rafters were inspected and replaced or repaired as necessary. New leadwork was carried out. The pointing to the brickwork on all elevations was repaired or replaced.
The rear of the site was utilised by adding a new 3 storey annexe to the old building.
